NISSIN FURNITURE

“Hida Craftsmanship to the Modern Era” Founded in 1946, Nissin Furniture combines the essence of Scandinavian design with the traditional techniques inherited from Hida artisans to create furniture that is gentle and comfortable for people. Nissin has long embraced the Japandi style, guided by the philosophy: “To create spaces where people feel at ease, not spaces dominated by furniture.” From this idea was born the design known as “Simple Modern,” which defines the character of Nissin Furniture. Our pieces harmonize beautifully with a wide range of interiors, from calm, traditional Japanese settings to natural, Scandinavian spaces. At first glance, Nissin furniture may appear delicate, but in fact it is built with a remarkably sturdy structure. By combining high-quality dried wood, outstanding bentwood techniques, and beautiful design, Nissin creates products that embody both elegance and strength. Since 2022, we established Barrel Division and have been supplying wooden casks to distilleries and wineries both in Japan and overseas.

During the event, Mr. Matsuoka will be present for three days, allowing visitors to engage directly with him on his design and craftsmanship ideas. In addition, we will bring together the 60th and 70th anniversary models along with furniture designed by five designers who have contributed to Nissin’s creations, allowing attendees to experience both the legacy and the future of Nissin Furniture.

The furniture we use every day should feel comfortable, look beautiful, and bring us joy. That is the idea behind CHORUS—a furniture series made to be loved and lived with for years to come. We are excited to showcase the Solid Wood Armchair (CHC-1801-O), the very first chair in the CHORUS collection. A chair with a gentle soap finish that brings out the natural warmth and texture of the wood. Designed by Tomoyuki Matsuoka

At Nissin Furniture, our pieces are crafted through the perfect blend of machine processing, skilled handwork, and traditional techniques. We draw on the craftsmanship of the Hida artisans, a legacy passed down for over 1,300 years, and make full use of the local resources of the Hida region. Even pieces cut from the same wood have their own unique character, so every step requires care, experience, and a human touch. What makes Nissin Furniture unique is its lightweight, durable design—crafted by combining local resources with the perfect mix of machines and skilled hands.
