Takumi Kogei is a specialist manufacturer of fine wooden furniture based in Higashikagura, Kamikawa District — a serene town nestled in the very heart of Hokkaido, Japan. Founded in 1979 by master craftsman Yoshihiko Kuwabara (now Chairman), the company brings together a team of 45 skilled artisans and technical experts who share a deep dedication to the art of furniture making. Rooted in the belief that furniture should convey the warmth of human hands, Takumi Kogei creates each piece amidst the breathtaking natural surroundings of the Daisetsuzan mountain range. Our guiding concept, “Delivering to the Heart,” reflects our desire to craft furniture that enriches everyday life — designs that bring a quiet comfort and resonate deeply with those who use them. In 2021, we opened our first directly managed store, Takumi Kogei YOKOHAMA, conveniently located just a one-minute walk from Center Minami Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway.

Event Information
At Takumi Kogei, we are expanding our collaboration with Chelsea International, a foreign textile brand presented at Meet Up Furniture 2025, with a special exhibition at our Aoyama venue. The event will feature innovative space proposals through sessions by top coordinators, accompanied by related talk shows. Additionally, at the JFS main venue, we will showcase the personal high-back chair, the iconic piece of the collaboration series “GAZE”, created with Danish master Anker Bach, which drew great attention at Meet Up Furniture 2024. We invite you to experience this uniquely refined sense of comfort at our Aoyama venue.
Takumi Kogei, which continues to create with “comfort” as its core theme, will present a new proposal of comfort through a collaboration with Chelsea International, a brand handling high-quality overseas textiles. The collaborative space is produced by the special JFS design unit “RY”, led by Yohei Koshikawa, CEO of Orb International Inc., and interior coordinator Rika Miyake of jayblue Interior Coordination.

Exploring the “slight element of surprise” created by eclectic styles, the talk will examine the growing variety of these styles and the secrets to bringing out their full appeal from each presenter’s perspective. Starting from the collaboration Takumi Kogei × Chelsea International and the intersection of craft and luxury, the session will provide insights into the current project and exhibition while discussing recent trends in eclectic design.
